Description NOTE: THIS ITEM IS RESTRICTED TO ONLY SALES FROM BUSINESS ACCOUNTS. NOT FOR HOME USE. 51370 – Euthanizing Chamber, supplied with [5] 16g Threaded CO2 Cartridges. The animal is placed inside the container and a cartridge is activated, thereby sending carbon dioxide into the chamber. A flow-limiting orifice and noise muffler are incorporated into the system preventing distress in the animals. The specimen container is made of durable plastic and can be easily cleaned and/or replaced. The system includes the container, valve assembly lid, and 5 carbon dioxide cartridges. Size: Approximately 7″ tall x 5.75″ wide x 11″ L Cartridge Refills 53167 – 16g Threaded CO2 Cartridges [5PK] 51369 – 12g Non-Threaded CO2 Cartridges [10PK] **Operation Instructions** 1. Unscrew and remove the CO₂ shooter from the chamber. 2. Place the small animal in the container and close the sliding lid. Do not use with animals that cannot rest comfortably on the floor of the enclosure. 3. Ensure that the trigger locking mechanism is not engaged or pressed during this step. Insert a new cartridge into the shooter sheath. Quickly and firmly screw the sheath onto the valve until the cartridge is punctured and sealed. Failure to completely screw the sheath to the valve may result in escaping gas and device malfunction. Replacement canisters can be purchased from the retailer who supplied this unit. 4. Screw the CO₂ valve assembly (shooter) back onto the upper valve receiver of the euthanasia enclosure. 5. While holding the CO₂ shooter in the upright position, depress the trigger. 6. While fully depressing and holding the trigger, insert the trigger locking mechanism. 7. Let the unit sit for 3 minutes after the animal’s breathing has ceased. Note that large animals, unique species, or multiple animals may require multiple CO₂ canisters. 8. Retract the trigger locking mechanism. 9. Unscrew and remove the CO₂ shooter assembly from the enclosure. 10. Remove the animal. 11. Thoroughly clean the container using a detergent to kill bacteria and remove animal scents. 12. Repeat as necessary.
