Layers of Dublin – Red Georgian Door
$ 25.72
A city is never just one thing – it is layers of people, history, and movement existing together. This piece features a woman passing a bright red Georgian Door. The stylised female figure overlaps and intersects with the image of the Georgian Door helping to create a sense of movement in the piece. Georgian doors in Dublin have become one of the city’s most recognisable and enduring visual icons – an intersection of architecture, history, and everyday art. Originally designed in the 18th century as part of the city’s Georgian expansion, these doors were practical features of elegant townhouses: symmetrical façades, fanlight windows, and solid timber construction. Yet over time, what began as uniformity evolved into individuality. The bold colours—deep reds, cobalt blues, forest greens, and vibrant yellows—are now emblematic of Dublin’s character, transforming entire streets into open-air galleries. This artwork is part of Layers of Dublin, a series exploring the iconic places of Dublin and the people who shape them. Each composition in this series layers figures and structures to symbolise the overlapping narratives that define Dublin: tradition and modernity, landscape and community. Designed to last. Created to celebrate Dublin
